If they are accepted, that means the theme. ini file may have changed, and there are a couple of pending patches that add new settings to the options dialog. I know someone did make an alternative theme - probably the one you found - but I don't know if it's been maintained.
The "modern" theme consists of two files: modern.ini and modern.zip. The "classic" theme is hard-coded into ScummVM, so that it is guaranteed to have at least one theme that will always be available. Currently, the only way to select a theme is by using the -gui-theme command-line option, i.e.
